Overview

The MPC8260ADS boards are designed to aid hardware and software developers of the PowerQUICC II family to provide an evaluation platform for the MPC82xx family. The MPC8260ADS family of boards supports the MPC8255, MPC8260, and MPC8264 integrated processors.

The MPC8260ADS board has 16MB of SDRAM DIMM (up to 64MB) on the 60x bus, 4MB of SDRAM on the local bus, and an 8MB Program Flash SIMM (up to 32MB) module. The MPC8260ADS-PQ2 includes an MPC8260 processor, one 100MB Ethernet port, two serial ports, and a single-fiber ATM connection.

Using the ADS on-board resources and an associated debugger, developers are able to download and run code, set breakpoints, display memory and registers, and connect proprietary hardware via the expansion connectors. That code can then be incorporated into a desired system with the MPC82xx processor.

The MPC8260ADS-PQ2 is the reference board.
